Trull Tennis at Taunton

Welcome to one of Taunton’s oldest clubs, with around a hundred adult members,
and a strong junior section. And players aged from 8 to 83 (we breed them well in Trull).

Finals day 2008

Once again the Trull Tennis finals were highly contested with a good entry in the men's section, Alex Wilson and Steve Pantling battled it out in the men's final. With a high standard of tennis the rallies were well contested, with many deuce games Alex seemed able to turn around each game and came through 6-1, 6-0 which didn't represent the closeness of the games.

The ladies final was between new comer Angela Cliffe (below left) and previous finalist Louise Hitchcock. Again a close fought match which Angela won through with greater consistency.

Alex then teamed up with Dave Hill to play Ivan Stubbs and Richard Lamb in the men's doubles. Alex and Dave got off to a flyer and stormed to a 4-1 lead only then to be pegged back to 4-4 before closing out the set, the second set followed a similar pattern with the final scores 6 - 4, 6 - 2.

Men's Singles final

Sorry – says the photographer – but smiling seems to be harder than playing.
Steve Pantling (left), our resident coach, lost to now three times winner Alex Wilson in a fairly brutal final 6 - 0, 6 -1.
Well Alex does have the advantage of youth
